The interest by the media in our visit was a great surprise to us. We had a visit by the Melbourne Herald Sun to see us packing and made me pose with an excessive number of bottles of water. In their article they, not surprisingly, managed to get confused over which William Wills was on the trip. Also ABC TV both to film our packing and the actual start of our journey, on Wednesday 15 June, from the Melbourne Cemetery where the remains of Robert Burke and William Wills were eventually laid to rest after the first state funeral in Australia
Additionally we did a local radio broadcast from the ABC studio in Broken Hill and two requested ‘phone-ins. On our way back The Standard, which is the local paper in the Port Fairey area, had our pictures on its front page.
