At Birdsville the overgrown remains of the blaze mark on the tree where the advance party camped can be clearly seen.

The bare arid wide open scenery to Birdsville like the view from the top of Big Red must still be very similar to what the explorers experienced except for them there weere no roads or tracks to follow or any other sign of European habitation.
