Just thinking about removing the old toilet? Anybody done this? Should I just fix the old one? Put in a bucket?
Any feedback much appreciated ?
Sean Cooney I was going to buy a new one but instead went with a Porta Potti. My reasons, no holding tanks on board and it is illegal to flush straight into the water, I use Pittwater and knowing my luck I’d get caught. The downside they need emptying every now and then but apart from that I am very happy with it. I have a MkII so had more room to play with. There is a pull out handle at front which could be an issue in a Mk1.
Ron van Ardenne Porta potti
Ray Saunders Took mine out of my mk1. Put a porta potty type in just had to move the table bracket and cut a slot for the pull out handle that seals the bottom tank. Works great.
Ray Saunders Haven't got a pic with the toilet in but this is the slot I cut.
Mark Van Staveren I have an access point there already Could work?
Ray Saunders I reckon it might but your hatch looks different to mine. You would have to be able to line the little handle up with the hole. The height looks about right.
Dianne Wallace Ron just fixed the old one. Parts available online for ours! But forget bucket idea, ladies will be very unhappy so if budget allows replace with new one!
Jimmy Bloke These fit and usually go on special every 6 months for about $300. A much better option than the original hand pump one or bucket. The macerator brakes everything up and the sun, salt and fish take care of the rest fairly quickly.
Sean Cooney Part of my rational going with Porta Potti, it was only about $150 from BCF, and, I thought if I don't like it I would then buy a new toilet, as I retained the original inlet and outlet plumbing.
Graham Ellis u need a holding tank 4 old wc.
Sean Cooney Therein lies the problem, expensive to install holding tank and then issues with accessibility to pump out. Straight into inland waterways is illegal, which is why I went for Porta Potti. Lesser of two evils!
Rod Lovell Took the ceramic one out. Left fittings in and installed porta potti.
Rod Lovell Here's mine but I cut a piece of ply to go from wall to wall to sit the pp on;
