Thoughts on Self Draining Cockpits
        by Steve Leonard, October 2014

One of the major selling points and vital to the Deltacraft Islander's well being has always been the self-draining cockpit. This feature has enabled a Deltacraft Islander to be kept on a mooring even if only as a mooring minder.

I've spoken to quite a few owners who inherited or bought the boat with the mooring ( new regulations have changed this now ) and then became very fond of the Delta and rejuvenated it, as is happening now quite regularly, they are worth money when done up, and rain wont sink the boat!

The self drains are located in the transom, 25mm in diameter, 4 in all.

Do's and dont's

Professional Incline testing has proven their worth many times, and they were passed, by what used to be known as NSW. MSB, in 72 hire boats and commercial operations who chose the Deltacraft Islander.

During commercial testing, freeboard is measured from the scuppers (selfdrains)
