The history is that we were after a Deltacraft trailerable version. Could not find anything, but a Mark 1 turned up for sale locally. After viewing a Mark 2, I would preferred the Mark 1 as it does not have the shower recess which is only suitable for a midget contortionist.
The Mark 1 has had a rough time externally. Lots of scratches but the aft top and interior are quite nice.
It has a 15 HP long shaft Yamaha 4 stroke which will be offered for sale. I will hack away the stern modification (for the outboard) and attempt to restore the original stern.
The skeg has the prop tunnel with a copper tube protruding at the engine end.
The other end was glassed over. I dug that out then found a wooden plug in the bearing. The plug was 150 mm long and I drilled it out. The bearing is black and rock hard. Unknown material.
The skeg has a recess for some sort of external 2 hole flange. This was apparent after I dug away the glass plug. Similar to the photo except it is a domed recess in the glass.
I have a Yanmar YSM8, from eBay. Nice flat single horizontal diesel. Tested it and it runs well. I fabricated a boom for our tractor which will (hopefully) position the engine. I will do some photos during the intended event.
I found and purchased a "Magic Tilt" Aluminium trailer. Four wheel electric \ hydraulic brakes and only 450KG. Keeps the load under the maximum rating for my car. (An old Mercedes 560SEC). Tow weight limit is 1.95 tonne.
Many of the parts for the Deltacraft are coming from a 1953 Cedric Williams 6.1 meter cabin cruiser. (Rudder and engine and steering controls). Hull is Huon Pine. We were restoring it but decided to scrap the project.
The timber craft is available free and is on a trailer located near Murwillumbah, NSW.
Email Frank for details of the outboard motor or the huon pine hull.
I constructed a boom on the tractor. Lifted the Yanmar motor and dropped it in the hole. Currently modifying the engine mounting base. The photo shows boom with the engine nearly settled in the engine room.
