I am currently looking around for a mid to late 80's Mark 2 deluxe water ballast trailable model, preferably with the 30hp Penta and extended hardtop.
Appreciate if yourself or any other Delta owners could advise me on what I should be looking for in regards to potential inherent problems, taking into consideration the age of the vessel now.
I realise that if they have been looked after, that they are still very sound vessels, but I am just trying to scope out potential problems that commonly occur with this type due to age and wear and tear. For example are there areas where timber was used structurally, (transom, under floor etc.), if so how did it typically hold up with the age of these vessels now.
Appreciate if yourself or any other Delta owners can offer me some advice.
Hello to all deltacraft owners, I am the proud owner of the Gysea 2.
Just a quick line about an overheating problem I had with the 18 hp 2002 Volvo Penta sea water cooled engine. The exhaust elbow was removed and cleaned at service about 6 months ago, new impeller and every thing was fine for a while about 3 months then started to overheat again.
I remember reading some hand written notes that came with the boat about a small tube which runs through the head from front to back, which I think is called the distribution pipe which has small holes in it that can become blocked. I unblocked those holes, not easy as you need a wire with a small bend at the tip and then you proceed to feel for the holes, I found 4.
Then I pumped through a product called Rydlyme for about 8 hours with a pond pump, it worked a treat. Have run the boat for 15-20 minutes connected to freshwater hose, no problem. I think I will make the flushing of the motor an annual thing with the service as it removed a lot of scale and crud.
I hope this information was of some use to others. I always read the forums to see of any new information.
