Australian Boating magazine July 1965 issue Cinderella boat of the Admiral's Cup Series was Australia's Caprice of Huon, a 13-year-old lady who beat all her modern sisters from eight countries in three consecutive races. Built single-handedly in three years by a Tasmanianwho was 78 when he started. Caprice was completed in 1952 from blueprints that dated back to 1939. Though long since outbuilt, she was superbly tuned and sailed by Skipper Gordon Ingate and his blue-ribbon crew. What an inspiration to all owners of old boats. |
